Join NOFA/Mass and the NOFA Organic Land Care Program on Thursday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m in Stoneham and Saturday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m.in Ayer to kick-off the Organic Lawn Demonstration Sites at the Stoneham, MA Town Common’s center circle and the Town of Ayer’s Sandy Pond recreation area. These projects, funded via a grant from the Toxics Use Reduction Institute of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, partner NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals with Town employees to transition 10,000 sq.ft. of public lawn area to organic management.
In Stoneham, NOFA AOLCP Michael Murray of Organic Soil Solutions, Inc. in Woburn, MA is partnering with Stoneham Groundskeeper Rick Arzillo and deputy DPW director Larry Brophy. In Ayer, NOFA AOLCP John Coppinger of Coppinger Co. Inc. in North Chelmsford, is partnering with Ayer Parks Supervisor Jeff Thomas. Project goals are to demonstrate the beauty, functionality and health and environmental benefits of organic lawns, which eliminate the use of toxic lawn chemicals, prevent pollution and create healthier environments.
